...Just Manny

She noticed him moving closer, his gloved hand slipping around her waist to the dip in her back. She felt her whole body start to melt into his arms, every ounce of her being telling her this was right. This was what she was waiting for. This was the way it was supposed to be.

He bit his lip as he moved his hand up to her shoulder, pulling her against him slowly. He hesitated. Did she want this? His mind was running with thoughts of how this would ruin them, how they’d change. But his heart was screaming for him stop over thinking. That this was the way it should to be.

When she didn’t pull away he smiled and she returned it. That was all the confirmation he needed. Closing his eyes he leaned down to her.

This was it. Her heart was pounding. But all so suddenly she found herself focusing on the embroidered ‘T’ on his mask.

She flinched.

Her tense movement made him stop and he pulled back. His expression fell and his ears folded against the side of his head. She didn’t want this.

But instead of pushing herself from his embrace, he watched as she very gently brought her hand up to his face. His ears perked in wonder as to what her motives were. He looked at her, puzzled from the unreadable look in her eyes as her thumb slipped under the tight fabric of his mask.

“Frida?”

She slowly started to pull his mask off, her fingertips on his bare skin making his entire body tingle.

“Not El Tigre…” She smiled as she let the mask drop to the ground, bringing her hand back up to run her fingers through his curls. “… just Manny.”
